What is the failure over Manchuria?
Show answer
The League's weakness was first clearly exposed when Japan invaded Manchuria, a region of China, in 1931. China appealed to the League for help. The League investigated and condemned Japan, but it could do nothing to make Japan leave. Japan simply ignored the League and then walked out of it.
What are only listing weaknesses?
Show answer
Connect the League's weaknesses to its failures over Manchuria and Abyssinia, and to how these encouraged aggression.
What is not linking to the Second World War?
Show answer
The point of the topic is that the League's failure helped cause the war by emboldening aggressors. Make that link.
