What is the three families of wood?Show answer
The terms hard and soft describe the tree type, not always the actual hardness; balsa is a hardwood but is very soft.
What is manufactured boards in detail?Show answer
Manufactured boards solve problems of solid wood. Plywood is layers glued with grains crossed, making it strong in all directions and resistant to splitting. MDF is fine fibres pressed into a smooth, even board that paints well and has no grain direction, ideal for flat panels. Chipboard is cheap particles bonded together, often used with a surface covering.
